Charlotte Elizabeth Glidden oklahoma Anne Ball aball1@twcny.rr.com http://www.twcny.rr.com Adoption of Indian children; some were stolen from their mothers and transported to schools; and families who adopted them. Uncle Joe Cannon was involved in Indian affairs and I believe that my mother was taken and adopted by 'Cannon's influence. She was adopted in March 1910 by Drs. Stephen and Anna Glidden. We want to uncover this mystery adoption. Because Mother was sent to Tonawanda when at age 16 her mother died. Father died at her age of 7. We are told that we are part Ogala sioux and that is all we found out.

"North Carolina , Indiana " Cathie Barneslbarnes@aol.com "I am looking for the family of Thomas ""Tommy"" Jones who was born the fall of 1875 or 1876 in the area of Liberty, North Carolina. He traveled to Morgan County,Indiana at the age of 18 with whom we believe was the Hinshaw family. Tommy, Mattie, and their two sons Kenneth and Marvel ""Red"" lived there until his death Dec. 16,1961 buried Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville, Indiana. Per his obit. he had 3 Brothers and 1 Sister who proceeded him in death. I am not certain but believe that his Brotherss names were: Marion Floyd Jones, John B. Jones (Birdie), James L. Jones (J.L.) Jones, But have no idea for the sister. The story that has been passed down through generation is that his Father passed away and that his mother remarried to a man that Tommy did not like so he moved? It could be very possible that the role could be reversed meaning the Mother passed and father remarried? I have some pictures of some family members from North Carolina taken in 1938 at J.L.'s Birthday Party. But the people in the photo are not marked so ???? on Names? But mentions Byron and Albert Hargrove in some kind of explosion. Any help would be appreciated and very much wanted. "

I believe that he might have completed his apprenticeship in TN, where he met and married a woman by the name of ""Viney"" (possibly a nickname). The earliest record I've found on him is the 1840 Census (MS) which lists Uriah, Viney and two of their children. The family moved to Texas about 1850. Viney died in Texas in 1859 and Uriah remarried a year later to Mary Jane Gilliland. I'm mostly interested in trying to find his apprentice records (if they exist)or perhaps some advice on how to locate such records. Any help would be greatly appreciated."
